YOUR PRIVACY CHOICES
Cookies and analytics choices
Updated 6 November 2026.
Essential website storage
The scibranch_session cookie keeps you signed in for up to seven days. It is Secure and HTTP-only. Logout clears it; account recovery and deletion revoke sessions. The rm-compare local-storage entry remembers products you select for comparison until you clear the selection or your browser removes it.
The scibranch_consent_v1 local-storage entry records your analytics choice and an expiry time for 180 days. It contains no email or account identifier. You can change the choice using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page. If browser storage is unavailable, the choice may need to be made again on the next page.
Optional Google Analytics
Only after you accept analytics, SciBranch loads Google Tag Manager container GTM-N9QJ8NWJ, connected to Google Analytics property G-JF1SJT59P5. Google receives analytics events such as public page visits, scrolling and interactions, together with browser/device information and cookie identifiers. Its servers receive your IP address when handling the connection. This helps us understand how the directory is used.
Google Analytics may set _ga and _ga_* cookies to distinguish browsers and sessions. The website requests an expiry of up to 180 days. Google’s tag configuration can affect which cookies are set. Advertising storage, advertising user-data consent and advertising personalization remain denied.
The website does not load these tags before a choice, after rejection, on account/sign-in/registration/recovery pages, while a sign-in session cookie exists, or on URLs with query strings or fragments. SciBranch does not add your account email, password, recovery code or review text to the analytics data layer. Public pages and shared links can be indexed independently of analytics.
Accepting, refusing and withdrawing
Accepting analytics is optional and separate from account terms. Refusing does not prevent browsing, registration or product comparison. “Reject analytics” stops subsequent collection by this integration, removes accessible Google Analytics cookies and reloads a page that already loaded the tag. Your choice also applies when another tab next checks it. Withdrawal does not recall data already sent to Google.
To reopen the choice, use “Cookie settings” below. Clearing this website’s browser data also removes the stored choice and the site will ask again. With JavaScript disabled, the analytics integration does not run.
Google and external websites
Google processes analytics information under its applicable terms and privacy practices and may process information outside your country. See Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from partner sites. Retention of information already received by Google is controlled by the Analytics property settings and Google’s applicable policies.
Following a manufacturer link opens an external service with its own cookies and privacy practices. Hosting services may also use necessary security mechanisms.
